New School Building
19th Feb 2025
St. Laurence O'Toole's Specialist School is accomodated in a temporary prefabricated building and we have been waiting for a new school building since 2003. There have been many delays in the process of getting our school built. Clare has contacted TDs in the area to ask for their support in making sure that building work starts on the new building as quickly as possible.
Before Christmas, Gary Gannon T.D. visited the school to see the condition of our temporary accomodation and to lend support to our campaign for building work to begin for our school. Thank you to Gary Gannon T.D. for visiting us.
In February 2025, Finance Minister Paschal O'Donohoe met with the Board of Management to see our current accomodation and to discuss the delays which have left us without permanent accomodation and to make a plan for ensuring building works can commence in a more timely manner.
We feel very strongly that our students deserve a much higher standard of accomodation than they are currently getting and the school greatly appreciates support from staff, students, families and the local community in campaigning for fit-for-purpose accomodation.
